The Revenue Commissioners say 95% of eligible homeowners have paid last year's property tax.
It took in 452 million euro in the tax for last year - as well as 39 million euro in property taxes due for 2015.
The figures form part of Revenue's total income of over 41 billion euro last year, according to figures published this evening.
However officials from the Department of Finance believe the compliance rate may actually be even higher, as there is no definitive list of all the properties in Ireland.
