A body has been recovered from the sea in Co Clare in the search for a missing man.

20-year-old Stephen Mungovan was reported missing by his friends on Monday morning.

A Naval Service diving team who had been assisting Gardaí and Coast Guard in the search in the Spanish Point area recovered the body this afternoon.

The body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick for a post mortem examination.

The search has now been suspended.
