A search is underway on a canal near Ardnacrusha power station in Co. Clare following a report that a body part was seen in the water.
At around 4:30pm a motorist passing over a bridge near the station reported seeing an arm sticking out of the water.
Three units of the Limerick City and County Fire Service were dispatched to the scene, along with the Shannon-based Coast Guard rescue helicopter.
The coastguard helicopter and the fire service have left the scene however local marine rescue units are continuing a land and water search of the area.
