A fire at a house in Galway city has been brought under control.

The blaze broke out at a house in Tirellan Heights in the Terryland area at around 6.15am.

Four units of the fire service battled the blaze which was extinguished before 8 o'clock.

The Galway City Fire Service says there was no one in the house at the time.

No injuries have been reported.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
