The N25 Cork Waterford Rd has just reopened between Midleton and Castlemartyr following an earlier fatal collision.
A 33 year old male pedestrian was struck by a car on the Cork side of Castlemartyr at approximately 5:15am.
He was removed by ambulance to Cork University Hospital where he later passed away - the driver of the car was uninjured.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward.
