A pedestrian has been killed in a collision at Turtulla Cross in Thurles in Co. Tipperary.

The collision occurred yesterday afternoon at around 3 O'Clock on the Thurles to Horsey & Jockey Road when a car hit the 47 year old pedestrian.

The 32 year old male driver of the car and three passengers, all children, were uninjured.

The pedestrian was treated at the scene and then brought to South Tipperary General Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A post mortem will take place later today.
