A post mortem is taking place on the body of a 62 year old man who was assaulted in a flat in Dublin yesterday evening.

Gardai were called to a flat in Ashdale Gardens, Terenure, at around quarter to six yesterday evening, where a man was discovered with head injuries.

A man in his 30's was arrested at the scene and remains in Garda custody in Terenure following the death of the pensioner.

The man was taken by ambulance to St. James's Hospital and died from his injuries a short time later.
