Bertie Ahern has been invited to return to the party that he was forced to resign from four years ago.
Mr Ahern's former branch of Fianna Fail has passed a motion unanimously asking the former Taoiseach to return to the fold.
The move has been heavily criticised after the Mahon Tribunal in 2012 rejected Mr Ahern's explanation of how almost €210,000 traveled through his bank accounts. Ahern resigned before the party could expel him.
