Three people, including a baby, have been killed in three separate road crashes in counties Donegal, Mayo and Limerick.
Gardaí investigating the incident in Mayo - say at 1:30am the car was discovered engulfed in flames on the Castlebar to Newport road at Cartoon and they're struggling to identify the deceased.
Firefighters battled the blaze and the body of a person was found inside the vehicle. However, Gardaí are still trying to establish if it's a man or a woman.
Officers are appealing for anyone who may have been travelling on the road last night - or who may have information - to contact Westport Garda Station.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a 22 month old boy was killed in Donegal, when he was struck by a van driving into the driveway of his house in in Creeveglebe in Letterkenny at around a quarter to seven yesterday evening. Gardaí say the incident is being treated as a tragic accident.
While in Limerick a 27 year old man died when he was hit by a truck while walking on the hard shoulder of the Ennis Road at around a quarter to seven this morning.
