Police say at least 58 people have been killed and more than 500 injured after a man opened fire at a country music festival in Las Vegas.

It's believed the gunman was shooting down from the Mandalay Bay Hotel, and police said he was killed on the 32nd floor.They named him as local man 64-year-old Stephen Paddock.

A "person of interest" Marilou Danley (62), believed to be his roommate, has also been apprehended.
Two off-duty police officers are among those injured.
The gunman is not believed to be connected to any militant group, officers said.
Witnesses described "chaos" as thousands fled the outdoor show.
