The Sinn Féin leader has told the Dáil his party is NOT run by the IRA Army Council.
Gerry Adams says his party is responsible to only one group - the Irish electorate.
His comments come as the fallout continues from yesterday's reports into the ongoing status of the IRA - which has also seen the Garda commissioner attack comments from the leader of Fianna Fáil.
Noirin O'Sullivan has criticised the claims of Micheál Martin, who questioned whether Gardaí had taken "their eye of the ball" in policing against crime in the border areas.
Meanwhile the Taoiseach told the Dáil he would have an "open mind" on creating a cross-border agency designed to tackle organised crime, if this was requested by the all-party talks that are resuming today in Stormont.
