Police in the North are expected to resume questioning Gerry Adams this morning.

The Sinn Fein leader was arrested on Wednesday evening - in connection with the abduction and murder of Jean McConville.

His period of questioning was suspended for a time overnight to allow him to rest

Gerry Adams detention in the serious crime suite of Antrim police station is continuing.

Its now over 30 hours since the Sinn Fein President was arrested and cautioned by the PSNI at 8 o'clock on Wednesday evening.

He had presented himself at the station with his solicitor by appointment.

The Co Louth TD is being questioned - as part of the investigation in the 1972 kidnapping and killing of Jean McConville - which he insists he had no involvement in.

The widowed mother of 10 was taken from her West Belfast home and killed by the IRA.

Her body was found buried at a Co Louth beach in 2003.

Detectives have an initial 48 hour period until 8 o'clock tonight to charge or release Gerry Adams - but an extension can be sought in court - if required.
