Aer Lingus CEO Apologises To Staff Over Stealing Claims

The CEO of Aer Lingus has issued an apology to the airline's staff over what it says was a misleading article in the Sunday Independent.

The paper had claimed increased surveillance is being carried out on staff after millions of euro worth of goods had been stolen from passengers and airline employees.

The Chief Operating Officer of Aer Lingus had blamed "a small percentage" of staff for the increased surveillance.

CEO Stephen Kavanagh says Aer Lingus was not the source for the article, and the airline is committed to maintaing the highest workplace standards.

A union representing workers at Aer Lingus has welcomed the  apology.

Fórsa says Aer Lingus cabin crew and other staff now want to move on from the episode.
