The sale of the State's stake in Aer Lingus could come a step closer today.

Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe has received an expert group's work on the potential deal and it's reported the issue could come up at the weekly cabinet meeting.

According to the Irish Times, the report is 'strongly supportive' of the sale of the 25 per cent shareholding to IAG, and says the price being offered is a fair one.

IAG has also made new commitments to address concerns on the future of Heathrow slots, Cork and Shannon airports, jobs, new routes, and the retention of the Aer Lingus brand.
