People who have been letting out their homes with Airbnb could be facing a tax bill as Revenue takes a retrospective look at their earnings.

The online booking company confirmed on Friday that it has handed over its database of hosts to the Revenue Commissioners.

It includes names, addresses and income earned since May of last year.

But tax experts say people won't be hit with penalties - interest or late fees as the filing deadline for last year has not yet passed.
