Former Taoiseach Albert Reynolds will be laid to rest today.

The former Fianna Fáil leader will be buried following a full state funeral in Donnybrook.

Our political correspondent Gavan Reilly reports.

Today's state funeral at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Donnybrook will be led by Fr Brian D'Arcy, with the archbishop of Dublin, Dr Diarmuid Martin, as one of the concelebrants.

The eulogy will be delivered by Mr Reynolds' son Philip.

The President, Michael D Higgins, and the current Taoiseach Enda Kenny are due to attend the service, as are several former Taoisigh and figures from across the political divide.

But there will also be figures from the world of entertainment, to reflect the former Taoiseach's time as a music promoter and businessman before his entry into politics.

Huge crowds attended Mr Reynolds' removal on Saturday evening, and more are expected today to honour the life of the former Taoiseach and businessman, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 81.

After the funeral Mr Reynolds will be laid to rest at Shanganagh cemetery in Shankill in South Dublin.
