Angela Kerins’ legal action against the Public Accounts Committee is due to resume before the High Court later this morning

The former CEO of the Rehab Group is suing the committee for the line of questioning it adopted during a public hearing two years ago.

Angela Kerins says she wasn’t obliged to but agreed to attend a PAC hearing on Feb 27th 2014 and claims its members acted outside of their remit by asking her questions about her €240,000 salary, her car, bonus payments and other matters which she claims were none of their business.

On the opening day of her legal action last week, the three-judge panel heard she felt the seven-hour meeting was a “personal attack” that led to an attempt to take her own life a few weeks later.

She wants the court to find the committee acted outside of its powers and is also seeking damages for the effect the hearing and the fallout that followed had on her health.

The committee denies the allegation and claims it was entitled to ask the questions because of the amount of State funding provided to the Rehab Group.

Day 3 of what’s expected to be a six day hearing is due to get underway this morning.
