Another Housing Report Suggests Asking Prices Are Up 4%

House prices increased by 4% since the summer.

A report from MyHome.ie looked at asking prices between July and September earlier this year.

The average price being sought for a home is around €330,000 nationally - while in Dublin it's as high as €425,000.

The study found annual asking price inflation was 3% in Dublin and 4.9% elsewhere around the country.

Author of the report and chief economist at Davy is Conall MacCoille - he says demand for homes is still high:

"Unfortunately, prices are starting to rise again.

"Housing demand remains robust, obviously the economy is performing well, but we also see people taking on higher levels of mortgage debt.

"The average mortgage approval in August broke through €300,000 for the first time."
