A woman who was protesting against water charges was injured last night when a glass door shattered on top of her at the Fingal County Council building in North Dublin.

Footage published on the Facebook page of the "Dublin Says No" group appears to show Gardaí attempting to pull a number of female protestors - who were staging a sit-in - out of the building.

The glass in the doors shatters on top of the women, one of whom is seen in the footage bleeding heavily from a facial injury.

The Anti-Austerity Alliance group of councillors in Fingal have called for an independent inquiry into the incident.

They're accusing the Gardaí of being heavy handed - and have described the women's protest as "peaceful".
