Investigations are continuing following a suspected hit and run in county Louth over the weekend.

35 year old Keith Byrne was discovered on the side of the road in Louth village yesterday morning, a short distance from his home in Carnalogue.

Paramedics were called to the scene to bring him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

He had suffered injuries consistent with having been struck by a vehicle.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who travelled on the road through Louth village between 4-15 and 4-45 yesterday morning to contact them.
