Gardaí are appealing for information after a 34-year-old man was shot dead in west Dublin.

Eric Fowler was gunned down last night just before 7.00pm at Blakestown Cottages.

Gardaí responded to a call and found the body of Mr Fowler on the driveway of one of the cottages.

He'd been shot a number of times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A murder investigation's been launched and an incident room has been set up in Blanchardstown Garda Station.

Gardaí want to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Blakestown Cottages, Blakestown Road, Hartstown Park and St Peregrines GAA Club yesterday between the hours of 5.00pm and 7.00pm.

They're appealing to any drivers who travelled the Blakestown Road during 5.00pm and 7.00pm, particularly vehicles with dash cameras, to contact them.

They are also appealing to trace the movements of a silver Volkswagen Jetta, registration plate '06-MH-3192', from December 18th until 7.00pm yesterday.

The car was found burnt out at Rusheeney Crescent in Clonee at 7.00pm.

Anyone who has any information is asked to contact the incident room at Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01-6667-000 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800-666-111.

Investigating officers believe two people were involved in the killing, and are looking into possible links to the ongoing Hutch/Kinehan gangland feud.
