A Limerick priest is appealing to churches around the country to sell off unwanted gold items to help pay for a teacher at a Moyross primary school.
Father Tony O'Riordan says the Departement of Education had cut funding for a teaching post at Corpus Christi primary school - which would lead to the merger of two junior infants classes.
The move would have left 32 pupils to one teacher, in the disadvantaged school.
