Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, after a man was shot dead on a roadside in South County Dublin.

The man's body was found on Hills Lane, in Crooksling just off the N81 Tallaght-Blessington road this morning.

Gardaí believe he was shot on the roadside sometime between 9pm last night, and 9 o'clock this morning.

They are asking anyone who may have heard gunshots during that time to come forward.

Detectives have identified the victim, who was in his thirties, and are informing his family.
