An Englishman given the longest ever sentence for drugs offences will today appeal the length of his jail term.
56 year old Perry Wharrie was sentenced to 30 years for his part in the record 440 million euro cocaine seizure off the West Cork coast in July 2007.
The Court of Criminal Appeal is due to give its decision today in his appeal against severity of the sentence.
Wharrie had an appeal of his conviction dismissed by the Court of Criminal Appeal in 2013.
