Gardaí in Co Meath have launched an investigation after an attempted armed bank raid this morning.
Two masked man entered the Bank of Ireland in Dunboyne at 9 am and threatened staff with guns.
They failed to access the safe - and made off in a silver car.
At about 9 o’clock this morning, two masked men - who are believed to have been armed - broke into Bank of Ireland’s Dunboyne branch through the roof.
They threatened staff, who were trying to open the safe.
Their attempts failed - and the raiders escaped in a Silver Hyundai car - which was later found abandoned a short time later on the Summerhill Road outside the town.
No money was taken in the raid - and no staff members were injured.
Gardaí at Ashbourne are now appealing for anyone with information to call them at 01-801 0 600.
