British astronaut Major Tim Peake has apologised for dialling a wrong number and saying: "Hello, is this planet Earth?"

He had to insist to the woman involved that he was not playing a joke and had rung her by accident from the International Space Station.

The Station will be seen clearly from southern England for six minutes this afternoon - rising in the West at 4.24pm.
