Nine people have died in a fire at a warehouse party in California.

13 people have been reported as missing following the incident in Oakland's Fruitvale district.

Firefighters report that around 50 people were inside the building when the fire broke out.

It's thought that smoke detectors were activated during the blaze, and there was no sprinkler system in the building.
