Gardai in Co Louth are appealing to the public for information about the attempted drowning of a dog in the Boyne Canal in Drogheda.
A report was received shortly after 7am yesterday morning of a dog in distress in the canal.
Members of the Drogheda River Rescue managed to rescue the Jack Russell terrier who had a five litre drum of water attacked to him via 4 tie wraps around his collar.
The dog was taken to the vet and while distressed wasn't injured.
Anyone with any information is being asked to contact Gardai at Drogheda or on the Garda Confidential Line.
