An interim report has pointed to severe dry rot in the wooden supports of a balcony that collapsed in California killing 6 Irish students, and injuring 7.
The beams should have been able to support a weight of almost two tonnes, according to officials.
The report is recommending that the city adopts new building regulations requiring improved waterproofing and venting of balcony structures.
