The Dáil will give its final approval for the Oireachtas Banking Inquiry this afternoon.
TDs will be asked to rubberstamp their approval for the inquiry, including giving it the power to interview more bankers than it expected.
Both the Dáil and Seanad are also calling on the government to give the inquiry more powers, by allowing Central Bank staff to give confidential evidence.
The inquiry's due to begin its public hearings next month, and issue its final report in November of next year.
