Those who lost their lives in the battle of the Battle of the Somme are being remembered today.

Young Irish men, from both sides of the border, took part in the battle, which lasted for 141 days in 1916.

The Minister for Arts and Heritage Heather Humphreys is in France to attend a series of commemorative events to mark the centenary of the battle:
