Gardaí are appealing to motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads as Storm Barney is due to peak this afternoon.
An Orange Weather Warning is in place - with winds of up to 80 kilometres per hour - for Munster, Leinster, Galway and Roscommon.
Local authorities are asking people to stay indoors and to make sure that bins and loose objects are secure.
Meanwhile, Gardaí are advising road users to contact local Gardaí if they come across any fallen debris on the roads.
