Siptu members at Bausch and Lomb in Waterford are to vote on proposals concerning the future of their jobs by next Tuesday.
The company's looking for 200 redundancies to save 20 million euro a year, but 900 remaining staff are being asked to take a 7 and a half per cent pay cut, and sign up to changes in some bonuses and sick leave entitlements.
Bausch and Lomb had previously warned that if savings weren't made, the company would have to close it's Waterford plant.
Alan O' Leary, Sector Organiser with SIPTU refused to be drawn on whether staff will accept or reject these proposals.
