People will be presumed to be organ donors in the event of their death under new laws expected by the end of the year.
The soft opt-out will still see families able to refuse to donate a loved onesÂ’ organs when they die.
Donor families are urging the public to talk about organ donation.
Juliette Gash reports;
Emmet Spollen spoke of his daughter Neveah, who died aged 9, of a brain haemorrhage. Nevaeh had found her mother's organ donor card three weeks before becoming ill, so her parents knew what her wishes were. The Spollen family have urged the public to talk to their families about their wishes.
