Berkeley mayor says arrangements are being made to repatriate Irish victims

Arrangements are being made to bring home the bodies this weekend of five young Irish victims who died in the balcony collapse tragedy in Berkeley, California.

The funeral of the sixth victim, Irish-American Ashley Donohoe, is due to take place in California tomorrow.

In Dublin earlier this afternoon, hundreds gathered at UCD for an inter-faith service to remember the victims, three of whom had been students there.

President Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina were among those attending the special ceremony.

Mayor of Berkeley Tom Bates said officials in Berkeley are doing everything they can to help repatriate the bodies of the victims:
