One of the survivors of the Berkeley balcony collapse is no longer in a critical condition.

Aoife Beary is said to have begun waking up from an induced coma and has begun communicating with her parents.

Ms Beary was celebrating her 21st birthday when the tragedy occurred on the 26th of June last.

The Friends of Aoife Beary Facebook page says she's still in intensive care but is making progress in her recovery.
