Catholic bishops around the country have today issued a series of pastoral messages calling for a No vote in the same-sex marriage referendum.

Among the statements issued today, the Catholic Bishop of Kerry Ray Browne said he believes a 'Yes' vote could hugely undermine the stability of marriage in Ireland, in the future.

And the Bishop of Clonfert John Kirby said the referendum is not about equality.  

Earlier today in Dublin city centre, hundreds of people turned out for rally in support of same-sex marriage.

Those attending held up banners with the word "equal" - and the event heard calls for campaigners to convince those who are undecided to vote Yes.
