Gardai have named the crewman, who's body was recovered from the wreckage of the coastguard rescue helicopter, as Captain Mark Duffy.

He was one of four people onboard when it came down eight miles off the coast of County Mayo 12 days ago.

His body was brought to shore by the naval vessel the LE Samuel Beckett this afternoon.

Rescuers are also attempting to bring the helicopter to shore.

Two other missing crew have yet to be located.
