Gardaí are investigating an assault in which a 44-year-old man died outside a home in north Cork.

The remains were found early this morning outside Mallow.

The body of the man in his 40s was found at Rockview Terrace, in the village of Doneraile.

Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster has arrived at the scene where the body remained overnight.

A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been established at Mallow Garda Station.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who were in Doneraile Village between midnight and 2am to come forward.

A garda spokesperson says: "Gardaí in Mallow are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of a man, aged in his 40s following the discovery of a body at Rockview Terrace, Doneraile, Mallow, Co Cork in the early hours of this morning .

"Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them and are seeking any available camera footage, including dashcam recordings, from those who were in the vicinity of Doneraile village, Mallow, Co. Cork this morning from 12 midnight to 2am Sunday 12th October, 2025.
