Gardai are investigating the discovery of a man's body in the middle of the road in County Louth in the early hours of this morning.

The 52 year old man's body was found by members of the public on the Dundalk to Armagh Road at Kilcurry at 3:15 this morning

He appears to have sustained a number of stab wounds.

The man has been positively identified however his name has not yet been released until all next of kin are informed.

Its understood he's a taxi driver from Dundalk. His body remains at the scene and the area has been preserved for a technical examination.

A post mortem will be carried out later.
