A body has been found in the search for Gavin Carey off the coast of Donegal.

The search had been launched for the 28 year old member of the defence forces on Tuesday night.

Gavin from Mullingar in County Westmeath had been swimming near Tullan Strand when he got into difficulty.

The coastguard has offered its sympathies to the Carey family and the Defence Forces.
