The Army Bomb Disposal team were deployed by Gardai to Kildare yesterday evening following the discovery of a civil war era munition.
The war material was found near Ballymore Eustace in County Kildare.
The squad arrived on the scene at 6.20pm and evacuated a number of houses to ensure the safety of local residents.
A cordon was in place for the duration of the operation before the scene was declared safe at 7.40pm.
Anyone who comes across such munition is advised to keep a safe distance and contact An Garda Síochána.
