A 13 year old boy has died following a single vehicle crash in County Wicklow.

The driver of the car has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

The teenager was a passenger in a car that crashed into a ditch near Annamore at twenty to seven this morning.

After the collision the boy and the driver of the car began walking along the road towards Roundwood.

They were picked up by a passing car - but the boy's condition deteriorated, and he died en route to Loughlinstown hospital.

The driver of the car, a man in his 30's, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and brought to Wicklow Garda Station.

The Roundwood to Annamoe road has been closed to allow for a forensic examination of the scene.
