IMPACT says it's not in a position to call off Wednesday's planned strike action by Ryanair pilots until it meets with the company.
The airline says it's now prepared to meet union representatives on Tuesday in a bid to avert industrial action, after initially saying it could only meet them on Wednesday.
However IMPACT says it needs clarifications from Ryanair on how it will handle matters going forward.
The union's Niall Shanahan has welcomed the progress but says they can't call off the strike just yet:
On Friday, Ryanair announced for the first time in it's 32 year history - that it would recognise unions - but it wouldn't be able to meet with IMPACT until Wednesday - which is the day the strike is due to begin.
IMPACT responded, saying the strike would go ahead unless management agreed to talks before that, to allow them to ensure there was substance in the offer, and to understand how the airlines' recognition of unions would proceed.
Yesterday evening RYANAIR issued a statement offering to meet IMPACT and their Ryanair Pilot Committee on TUESDAY 'if that would suit them better'.
IMPACT now says it would meet sooner but that it cannot call off the strike until that meeting happens.
Meanwhile - consumers hoping to fly home for Christmas - are watching and waiting.
