The man jailed for the murder of Veronica Guerin has applied to have his conviction declared a miscarriage of justice.
Brian Meehan from Crumlin in Dublin, is serving a life sentence following his conviction in July 1999 for the murder of the journalist in 1996, after a 31-day-trial before the non-jury Special Criminal Court.
The 47 year old's application hinges on what his legal team alleges is new evidence, that emerged in the course of the 2001 Special Criminal Court trial of John Gilligan.
Mr Justice George Birmingham has fixed November 19th and 20th for the hearing of Meehan's application.
