It's claimed that the government's about to shelve the new broadcast charge until after next year's election.
The blanket fee is expected to cost around 160 euro, and has been proposed as a way to keep up with new developments in broadcasting and streaming technology.
However according to the Irish Independent today, it will be confirmed later that it won't be introduced this side of the general election.
