Broadcaster Ray D'Arcy is to leave Today FM.

The 50-year old mid-morning show host is to take up a TV and radio presenter role with RTE.

Announcing the move, Today FM Chief Executive Peter Mc Partlin thanked Ray for his contribution over the last 15 years and said the station was disappointed to lose him from its great line-up of talent.

He said while Ray established his name on TV originally, it was through his daily Today FM show that he built up a strong following across the country.

Mr McPartlin said Today FM will move on as a station and begin the process of establishing another great show, to be launched in early 2015.
