A brother and sister have appeared at Dublin District Court charged with the murder of 63 year old Thomas Horan.

Ken Cummins (27) and Sabrina Cummins (36) of Ringsend Park are accused of killing him at his home in Cambridge Court in Irishtown, last Monday.

Mr Horan was found dead at his flat in sheltered accommodation in the early hours of the morning.

A post mortem found he had suffered internal injuries.

Ken Cummins wore a light grey tracksuit and a black top at today’s court appearance while his sister Sabrina Cummins wore a black skirt and top with a grey tracksuit top.

There was garda evidence that they were arrested in North Dublin on Wednesday and that they were charged with murder at Irishtown and Donnybrook Garda Stations yesterday.

The court head neither of the accused replied to the charge after caution.

Michael French, the solicitor representing Sabrina Cummins, told the court that the seriousness of the situation is not lost on his client.

Judge Michael Walsh has remanded the pair in custody to appear in court again next Thursday.

Any bail application will have to be made to the High Court because the charge is one of murder.

Following requests from their solicitors the judge directed that the two accused receive medical attention while they are held in prison.
