The first passenger plane to leave Brussels Zaventem Airport since it was hit by suicide bombers has taken off.

32 people were killed in the attacks by Islamic State suicide bombers at the airport and a metro station in Brussels.

A Brussels Airlines service to Faro in Portugal is one of just three departures today.

Strict new security controls are in place - with passengers being screened before they're allowed into the terminal.

Two other “symbolic flights” to Athens and Turin will depart this afternoon.

There will be a limited number of flights and extra security checks for passengers.

It's expected the airport will fully reopen by the end of June or early July.
