Bus Eireann strike looms as talks collapse

Talks to resolve the Bus Eireann pay dispute have collapsed.

SIPTU and the NBRU have been meeting with the company at the Workplace Relations Commission this afternoon.

The negotiations broke down when management told the unions that an immediate €12 million in pay cuts are needed to keep the company afloat beyond May of this year.

In a statement, the NBRU says its members have been put on notice and the union will immediately engage in an all-out strike if Bus Éireann move to unilaterally implement cuts to the terms and conditions of workers.

SIPTU's Willie Noone says if Bus Éireann tries to force through cuts, their members will have no other option but to take action:
